UK Farmers' co-op sees turnover near £100m + 33%

Anglia Farmers, the country's largest farm buying group, has reported a 33pc rise in annual turnover to almost £100m.

The co-operative group, which is based at Keswick, near Norwich, had a turnover of £95.75m for the year to January 31 2008.

And at the current rate of growth, it could top £140m by the end of the trading year.

Turnover during the first four months of this financial year was £47.4m - an increase of 54pc on last year.

Chairman George Bell said: “We have had another good year working on behalf of our members and we continue to invest in the business, adding to the range of specialist services we can offer.

“The directors believe that Anglia Farmers is in a good position to handle the challenges posed both by growth and by the changeable climate for farming.”
